Wild Earth

I grew up in the States, and grew up again in Ireland, arriving in the summer of 2017 with my daughter, our pets, and not much else.Wild Earth began in the autumn of 2015, while I was elbow-deep in a master's program, as an herbal apothecary brand. It didn't stay in its lane. That same season it grew into a preschool too, born entirely out of my own daughter's needs, the ones no existing school seemed built to hold. I picked up a camera under the same name for a while after that. Wild Earth was never one thing. It was whatever needed making next.Wild Earth, because I am. Wild wherever I land, whichever coastline or forest or unfamiliar language I happen to be standing in. Ireland is the one that stuck. It's home now, in the deepest sense of the word, even as somewhere like Japan has started pulling at the edges of my attention.That first preschool's ethos, that children (and the rest of us) learn best when we're trusted to lead ourselves, crossed the ocean with me. I carried it directly into a project I co-founded here, and I've been documenting the whole unruly, beautiful unfolding of my life in Ireland ever since, over on @wild.in.ireland.Somewhere along the way, I noticed the pattern. The guides for anyone visiting or moving to this island didn't start as a plan. They started as answers, the same questions asked again and again through @wild.in.ireland, until I realised I'd built up a small library of trial and error worth handing over. The wellness app came from the same place, a gap I kept running into in my own life (gentle, humane planning that simply didn't exist yet, so I made it). The other app grew out of watching how much goodwill sits unused in a community once neighbours have an easy way to actually trade with each other. The homeschooling resources, the communities I keep starting from scratch, even this website, all of it follows the same thread. I'm a creator. I make the thing when the thing isn't out there yet.It's been a journey, to say the least, and this is everything I've gathered along the way.xx, Lee
